Create well

The Create empty well wizard (class GCreateEmptyWellWizard) adds a new well record to the project when the user does not have a file to import. It is the right starting point when well geometry is known but the log and marker data have not been received yet, or when a synthetic / planning well is needed.

Launching the wizard

1.Open Data manager.

2.Right-click the Wells icon and choose Create empty well. The dialog that opens is titled Create well.

Input Parameters

UWI (unique well identifier) — required. The wizard checks the new UWI against all wells already in the project and refuses to accept duplicates.

Well name — required.

X, Y — surface location in the project's measurement system.

KB (Kelly Bushing elevation) — reference elevation used to compute MD/TVD.

Total depth — final depth of the wellbore.

If either UWI or name is left blank, or a duplicate UWI is entered, the wizard highlights the offending field and blocks submission.

After creation

The new well appears immediately in the Data manager. Well logs, inclinometry, checkshots and markers can then be attached via the usual import wizards (for example Import LAS files or Import inclinometry).
