The Fault Prediction tool in g-Space helps identify and analyze fault structures in seismic data. Access this tool by pressing Alt + right-click on any seismic section.
Time Analysis Parameters
•Correlation time window: Defines the vertical analysis window for examining seismic trace patterns, measured in milliseconds. A larger window considers more data vertically.
•Correlation window: Determines how many adjacent traces to analyze horizontally. Larger values include more neighboring traces for pattern recognition.
•Maximum shift: Sets the maximum allowable time shift when correlating traces, measured in milliseconds. Limits the search range for matching patterns.
Visual Enhancement
•Time stretch: Controls the vertical exaggeration percentage of the display. Higher values enhance fault visibility by making them appear more vertical.
Smoothing Controls
•Sigma for local faults: Fine-tunes the smoothing for detailed fault features. Lower values maintain more local detail.
•Sigma for generalized faults: Controls regional fault trend smoothing. Higher values emphasize major fault systems.
•Sigma for noise reduction: Determines noise filtering intensity. Higher values produce cleaner images but may reduce subtle details.
Processing Control
•Autopicking step: Sets the increment between automatic fault picks. Lower values increase detail but require more processing time.
