Velocity analysis

In seismic processing/imaging one of the key steps to get better stack results is the velocity(model). In time processing, we usually picks the velocities (RMS) and use them to stack the traces where in the case of Depth imaging, we need to build the velocity models with different kinds of methods be it a tomography, FWI etc. In whatever method or domain we work on with, our ultimate aim is to get a better stack velocity which eventually gives us the best stack response.

In g-Platform we have different velocity analysis modules. They are

Stack Imaging -                        Stack Imaging is a powerful tool wherein the user can to do multi tasking. Be it velocity picking, picking mute, creating stack, velocity model and exporting                                                                stack/gather/velocity into external format like SEGY. Stack Imaging is The GoTo module for picking velocities.

Velocity analysis                        Velocity analysis module also used to pick the velocities however it only displays the velocity semblance panel. It is very useful tool in case the user wants to test any processing                                        procedure to see how the velocity changes before and after the processing procedure. For example, when user tries to attenuate multiples using Radon Transformation then Velocity                                        analysis module is very helpful in looking at the velocity semblance to QC the radon multiple attenuation results.

Horizontal Velocity Analysis        Horizontal Velocity Analysis module is more useful in picking the velocities in a particular horizon.

Creating velocity model                This module can be used to create an internal velocity model by providing different velocity formats like external velocity model (SEGY file), internal velocity files (picks files,                                        picks collection) or a constant velocity model.
