Import Faults

g-Space supports several options importing faults:

On the Interpretation tab, use the Faults Management group.

Load faults binary.PNG Option 1: Select Load faults binary, choose a fault file, and confirm.

g-Space adds the imported faults to the existing faults. If an imported fault name is already in use, g-Space appends _2, _3, and so on so that both faults are kept. If the file cannot be parsed, g-Space reports that it could not load the fault file and leaves the existing faults unchanged.

Import fault (charisma format).PNGOption 2: Select Import fault (charisma format), choose one or more files, and confirm.

Adjust the import settings as needed:

  • Imported EPSG code: Displays the coordinate system of the imported data.
  • Import measurement system: Allows selecting between Metric and other units.
  • Use converting on import: Enables automatic conversion of coordinate or measurement systems.

After confirming the file and import settings, choose Time or Depth in the Select fault domain dialog, then enter the input Datum.

For more information about fault formats supported by g-Space refer to Fault Data Formats

Before importing faults make sure that the project datum and replacement velocity are the same for importing faults otherwise in must be changed. To do this go to Module Properties panel --> Parameters tab
