g-Space supports several options importing horizons:

Navigate to the Interpretation bar and use the Horizons Management group.

Option 1: Press load horizons binary button, locate file and press OK. g-Space will load binary horizons

IMPORTANT NOTE: Binary format contains a full copy of horizons exported from g-Space and it will overwrite all existing horizons

Option 2: Press Import horizon ASCII button, locate one or more files and press OK.

Option 3: Press Import horizon (charisma format), select one or more files and press OK. Select the Is depth horizon check box in the file dialog to import the files as depth horizons; leave it cleared to import them as time horizons.

Option 4: Import horizons from the Data manager

In the Data manager, expand Horizons and right-click a Time or Depth folder. Choose Import horizon and then one of:

• From ASCII... - opens the Import horizon ASCII wizard.
• From Charisma... - imports horizons stored in Charisma format.

You can select several files at once; each file is imported into the selected domain folder, so g-Space does not ask you for the domain. When you import from Charisma, g-Space asks for the input Datum and, in the file dialog, for the source coordinate reference system and measurement system.

When you import from ASCII, g-Space opens the Import horizon wizard for the selected file. In it you connect the file columns in the Fields connections group and set Location, Datum, Z measure, Import measurement system and the source coordinate reference system of the file.

If you selected several files, the wizard opens again for the next file. Select OK for all files to apply the settings shown in the wizard to all the remaining files and import them without opening the wizard again, or OK to import only the current file and continue with the next one.

Whichever option you use, when you import from Charisma or import several ASCII files at once, g-Space names the new horizons for you: from the name stored in the Charisma file, or from the file name for ASCII files. If a horizon with the same name already exists, g-Space keeps the existing horizon and adds a numeric suffix to the imported one instead of asking you to type a new name.

Importing horizons from ASCII adds them to the project and keeps the horizons you already have. Only Load horizons binary (Option 1) replaces the whole set of horizons, and it asks you to confirm before the previous ones are lost.

Before importing horizons make sure that the project datum and replacement velocity are the same for importing horizons otherwise in must be changed. To do this go to Module Properties panel --> Parameters tab
