Export velocity model
Export velocity model writes a depth velocity model from a g-Space project to a SEG-Y file (.sgy / .segy), so the model can be reused in g-Space or in other software.
Purpose
Save an existing depth velocity model as a SEG-Y file. Each velocity function is written out as a trace in the depth domain, preserving the model's geometry and sampling.
Launching the export
In the Data manager, expand the Velocity model node, right-click the velocity model you want to save and choose Export to Seg-Y file.

Step-by-step
- Right-click the target velocity model and select Export to Seg-Y file.
- In the save dialog, choose a location and file name; the filter is Seg-Y file (*.sgy).
- Confirm to write the file. g-Space exports the model gather with its depth sample interval into the new SEG-Y file.

Notes
- The command is available only on an individual velocity model entry, not on the Velocity model root node.
- The model is exported in the depth domain, matching the way it was imported or built.
- The resulting SEG-Y file can be read back with Import velocity model.
