Maps - contains all grids loaded externally and generated by running velocity model.

Maps are separated by types:

• Depth maps
• Velocity maps

• Isochron maps

Right mouse button on the icon allows to:

• Clear maps
• Sort by name
• Add folder

Right mouse button on type folder allows to:

• Clear maps
• Load from text file
• Load from text file (irregular)
• Load from CPS-3 grid file
• Load from ZMap grid file
• Load from IRAP classic grid file

Right mouse button on an individual Time or Depth map allows converting it to the other domain:

• Convert to depth — available for a Time map; builds the corresponding depth map.
• Convert to time — available for a Depth map; builds the corresponding time map.

Converting a map between the time and depth domains requires a velocity model in the project. If no velocity model is available, g-Space shows the message A velocity model is required to convert maps between time and depth. Please add a velocity model to the project first. and the conversion is not performed.

Extract fault contact lines

In the Data Manager, expand Maps, right-click an individual time or depth map, and choose Extract Fault Contact Line. The Map: field confirms the source map and cannot be changed in the wizard.

Choose a Fault model: and select the faults to include under Faults. All faults are selected initially; clear individual check boxes or use Select all. Only fault models in the map's domain are offered: time models for time maps and depth models for depth maps. If no compatible faults are available, g-Space reports that the map and fault data must be in the same domain and does not open the wizard.

Under Output, keep Create new version and edit Name:, or choose Overwrite existing and select an Existing: collection. Overwrite is available only when this map already has a collection. The suggested name is the map name followed by _fault_contacts; when it is already used, a suffix such as _v2 is proposed. Select Display the result immediately to make the result visible on the Location map, then click Extract.

A successful extraction adds a collection under the source map's Fault contact lines folder; that folder appears only when the map has a collection. The collection holds the contact lines for the selected faults. Its check box shows or hides its lines together, and its properties list the source map, fault model, and fault names. Right-click the collection for Show all or Hide all, or to Remove it. If no fault is selected or none of the selected faults intersects the map, no collection is created.

Several maps can be selected together with Ctrl + left click. Right mouse button on the selection allows to apply one action to all selected maps at once:

• Remove — deletes all selected maps from the project in one action.
• Save to text file
• Save to CPS-3 grid file
• Save to ZMap grid file

The save options ask for one output folder and write a separate file for each selected map. The supported file formats and the export of a single map are described in Export maps.
