Import ZGY

ZGY is a compressed 3D seismic volume format. g-Space imports ZGY .zgy files as 3D volumes (and 2D lines) through the seismic files view, the same place used to load SEG-Y.

Purpose

Load post-stack 3D seismic volumes stored in the ZGY format into a g-Space project. Geometry (inline / crossline, coordinates) is read from the ZGY metadata, so no trace-header mapping is required.

Launching the import

Open the seismic files view of the seismic data workspace and press Add files.

Step-by-step

  1. In the file dialog, set the file filter to ZGY and select one or more .zgy files.
  2. Review the data preview: domain (time / depth), data type and dimension are detected from the file.
  3. In Module properties set additional loading parameters if needed (data datum, replacement velocity).
  4. Press Apply selected seismic to load the volume. Loaded data turns from red to black / dark red on the location map.

Notes

  • ZGY carries its own geometry, so trace-header formats do not need to be configured as they do for SEG-Y.
  • ZGY import is read-only; export back to ZGY is not provided. Export seismic as SEG-Y instead.
